Specifically, the Departments of Physics, Zoology, and Computer Science have been authorized to conduct doctoral programs since the academic year 2018-19. Emphasizing gender equality in research, the institution offers a nurturing setting encourages women research scholars to pursue their Ph.D. studies. Amid the pandemic, teachers adeptly employed technology to bridge the digital gap, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of high-quality education. Our commitment to education extends far beyond the confines of traditional classrooms. ​Numerous faculty members at Periyar University hold significant roles as Chairpersons and Board of Studies Members. Their contributions were pivotal in reshaping the curriculum to adhere to the National Education Policy guidelines.

The introduction of internships for undergraduate and postgraduate students aimed to provide experiential learning opportunities, priming them for future job roles. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, students' zeal for learning remained unwavering. Remarkably, there was a considerable surge in pass rates and admissions to higher education. Professors are actively engaging students through diverse teaching methods such as case studies, presentations, and interactive learning approaches. Students were placed in nearby educational institutions, engaging in diverse voluntary programs like NSS, NCC, ROTARACT, YRC, and RRC, offering their services to society. Engaging in election duties, COVID-19 vaccination camps, literacy programs, blood donations, and tree-planting initiatives, volunteers contributed significantly. Additionally, they actively participated in events marking International Yoga Day. These activities instilled a strong sense of responsibility among students towards themselves, their families, teachers, and the broader community.
